Percussion

Drumine/Percussion Ensemble is an after school ensemble comprised of select students with an interest or experience performing percussion literature. This is an auditioned group and meets on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays after school from 3:00 – 4:00. In the first semester, students create a drumline composed of a Battery Unit (Snare Drum, Bass Drum, Tenors and Cymbals) and a Front Unit (Marimba, Xylophone, Bells, Auxiliary Percussion, Piano, and Electric Bass.) This ensemble performs for Pep Rallies and Home Football Games.

After the completion of Football Season, the Drumline becomes a Concert Percussion Ensemble presenting two on-campus performances as well as one off-campus concert each year. The Concert Percussion experience is essential to a Percussionists’ training and allows the students to experience repertoire from the contemporary genres, world music, body percussion and nontraditional instruments (Stomp).

Percussionists are highly encouraged to participate in both ensembles. Any music student may join these ensembles.
