Sports Medicine Program

The goal of the Our Lady of Mercy Sports Medicine program is to provide the highest quality of care possible for all student-athletes. We strive for accurate injury identification, swift and safe return to play, and education of parents and athletes about their injuries.

Certified Athletic Trainers are allied healthcare professionals responsible for the prevention, management, and care of injuries at all levels of physical activity. They serve as a liaison between the athlete and physician as well as the athlete and coach. The athletic trainer at Mercy is responsible for covering all sporting events on campus as well as away games for varsity football and other selected events.

Student-athletes receive treatments using an ultrasound machine, electric stimulation, therapeutic whilrpool, moist heat packs from our hydroculator, ice massage, and ice packs in addition to rehab stretching and exercises to return them to full activity in a safe and efficient manner.
